Debt Adviser

Hours: Full or part-time considered. Full-time = 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Part-time must be minimum of 21 hours over 3 days/week

Salary: £28,373 – £32,723 per annum, depending on experience, pro-rata for part-time.

Location: A CAKLC office: Gravesend, Dartford, Swanley, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells.  Some travel will be needed on occasion within Kent for meetings with colleagues and clients. There will be scope for 1-2 days/week home working, dependent on needs of the service.

Kiosk Champion (Kent Advice Hub)

Hours: Full or part-time considered. Full-time = 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Part-time must be minimum of 14 hours over 2 days/week

Status: Permanent

Location: Community-based in North & West Kent.  Whilst you will have a base in your most local CAKLC office (Gravesend, Dartford, Swanley, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells) the role will be primarily delivered in community settings.

Regular travel around North & West Kent will be needed. For this reason, you must be able to travel without reliance on public transport.

We’re looking for a Kiosk Champion to support the growth of the Kent Advice Hub, an innovative service bringing free, confidential advice directly into communities through video advice kiosks. 

As a Kiosk Champion, you’ll be the friendly face of the service, welcoming clients, helping them access advice through kiosk technology, and supporting people who may be experiencing digital barriers. You’ll work closely with community organisations, promote the service locally, gather feedback, and help ensure more people can access support before problems reach crisis point.

Immigration Solicitor or Barrister

Are you an experienced Immigration Solicitor or Barrister who wants to use your legal expertise to make a real difference for vulnerable migrants and marginalised communities?

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and compassionate legal professional to join our specialist immigration team at North & West Kent Citizens Advice and Kent Law Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to help grow and strengthen our immigration and asylum legal aid provision as part of Kent Law Centre — the newest Law Centre in the country.

You will provide high-quality immigration legal advice, casework and representation to clients across Kent, including people facing complex and urgent issues. The role will involve Legal Aid casework including cases at the first and upper tier tribunal and judicial review where appropriate, advocacy where appropriate, support for junior colleagues, and contributing to the ongoing development of a service that is rooted in access to justice, dignity and social change.

 

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:

→  At least two years’ PQE as a qualified Solicitor or Barrister.

→  IAAS Senior Caseworker and Supervisor accreditation.

→  Recent experience of Legal Aid Agency immigration advice, representation and billing.

→  Experience managing complex immigration caseloads.

→  Knowledge of appeals before the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal.

→  A strong commitment to access to justice, client-centred practice and equality, diversity and inclusion.

 

Experience of judicial review, public law matters, supervising colleagues, and of working in the voluntary and community sector would be an advantage, but we are also keen to hear from people who want to develop their practice in these areas within a supportive team.

This is a rare opportunity to join North & West Kent Citizens Advice and Kent Law Centre at an exciting stage in our development. We are expanding our family law work with the aim of securing a family legal aid contract, helping to improve access to justice for vulnerable people and families across Kent.

Kent is widely recognised as a “legal aid desert”, where many people struggle to access specialist legal advice at some of the most difficult points in their lives. We want to help change that.

About the role

You will provide specialist family legal advice, casework and representation, manage your own caseload, support legal aid compliance, and help shape the development of our family advice team.

The role will include:

→  Managing family law matters including Private Law Child Arrangements Orders, Public Law Care Proceedings and domestic violence.

→  Providing legal representation, including court representation where appropriate.

→  Meeting legal aid billing and compliance requirements once the contract is secured.

→  Supervising and supporting our CILEX-qualified Family Adviser.

→  Helping to build referral partnerships and integrate family work into our wider advice model.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with Practice Rights, at least three years’ PQE, and the ability to meet Legal Aid Agency supervisor requirements for family law.

You will bring strong family legal aid experience, confidence managing complex caseloads, sound knowledge of legal aid compliance, and a sensitive, client-centred approach to working with vulnerable clients.

The Role

As Team Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring local people receive timely, accurate and client-centred advice. You will support, supervise and develop a team of Advisers, helping them build confidence, skills and knowledge while maintaining excellent standards of advice quality.

Energy Adviser

Hours: Full or part-time considered.  Full-time = 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday.  Part-time must be minimum of 21 hours over 3 days/week

Salary: £24,551.80 per annum, pro-rata for part-time

Contract: Permanent

Location: Gravesend, Dartford, Swanley, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells in Kent. Regular travel will be needed within North and West Kent for attendance at outreach activities such as community events and groups. For this reason, you must be able to travel without reliance on public transport.

We’re looking for an Energy Adviser to join our friendly and supportive team. In this rewarding role, you’ll help people reduce energy costs, improve energy efficiency, access grants and rebates, manage energy debt, and deal more confidently with energy suppliers. You’ll also play a key role in reaching local communities through events, presentations and outreach activities.

 

What you’ll be doing:

→  Providing practical energy and cost-of-living advice to local people

→  Supporting clients to maximise income and reduce fuel poverty

→  Advising on grants, rebates, energy debt and energy efficiency measures

→  Attending community events and delivering energy awareness sessions

→  Helping people access wider Citizens Advice services before problems reach crisis point

→  Contributing to a project focused on achieving meaningful outcomes for local people and meeting funder target

 

We’re looking for someone who:

→  Experience of giving advice or supporting customers

→  Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

→  A positive and organised approach to achieving targets

→  A genuine desire to improve people’s lives and strengthen local communities

→  Previous energy advice experience is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provide
